13 I will do anything you ask [the Father] in my name so that the Father
will be given glory because of the Son. 14 If you ask me to do something, I will
do it. ~ (John 14:13-14 God’s Word Translation)
Do you believe that we can ask for anything to the Father through
Jesus Name and we will receive it? After all Jesus says so right here in John
14, “I will do anything you ask in my name.” First, to whom was Jesus talking?
He is talking to and preparing His disciples, the chosen twelve for His arrest
and ultimate death. Jesus is telling them that whatever they ask in His name He
will do for them, know that as His followers they would be filled with the Holy
Spirit and will desire what God desires. The same is true today; as Christ
followers living with a Holy Spirit lead life we desire what God desires for
us. Our will aligns with that of the Creator. Jesus is in plain language
telling us that we can ask anything of God “that aligns with His will and
brings glory to His Father”.
What is it you long for? What is it you cry out to
God for? What is it that you most often ask our Creator? It is when we with
humble hearts long with Jesus Christ for our loved ones to love Him. When our soul
is drenched with spiritual motivation, we cry out in repentance over the smallest
of sins. It is in wisdom when we ask how to lovingly care for the Spirit’s temple
that is our body. “Don't you know that your body is a temple that belongs to
the Holy Spirit? The Holy Spirit, whom you received from God, lives in you. You
don't belong to yourselves.” ~ (1 Corinthians 6:19).
Always we may ask for anything in the name of Jesus because it is for His honor.
Is there a more beautiful exhibit of love? Jesus did not leave His
disciples alone, Jesus did not leave us alone. He sent His Holy Spirit to equip
us, Jesus then went to heaven to sit at the right hand of the Father and
intercede for our benefit. Christ Disciples would do much greater works because
of Jesus work in and through them; we are to do the same. The Disciples mission
field extended far beyond their tiny nation to all the nations of the known
world. The day of Pentecost brought all tongues and tribes to them so they
could share the story of Christ and the resurrection story. In Jesus’
name they ask for saved souls, healed bodies, strengthened churches and God’s
favor! Today our mission field is as wide as the original Disciples, we are
called most importantly to our neighbors near and far. To the family next door
struggling with everyday life issues, to the homeless living on the street
corners of your business district, to the orphan children starving, homeless
and naked living in foreign lands.
"Ask, and you will receive. Search and you will find. Knock,
and the door will be opened for you.” ~ (Matthew 7:7 GWT).
Are you motionlessly and assuredly asking the Father for Jesus
sized opportunities? If you are struggling at work, ask God to capitalize on your
influence for Him. Look for opportunities and Christ direction in how to love
those around you in ways they cannot help but to feel loved. Invite them to a
meal. Listen to their Hopes, dreams and fears. Help them come up with ideas and
resources on how they can recapture their fearlessness and rejuvenate their
joy. Ask your Creator for wisdom and insight to be used at His liking. Invite
the Holy Spirit to grow your faith and love to a capacity that consistently
experiences Kingdom outcomes. Ask Him!
We have the ability to ask for anything, because Christ has the
authority because he has already done everything. We cannot burn out for
doing His will because Christ strengthen us and holds us up on His blessed
grace of rest. When we walk and reflect in Union with our Heavenly Father and His
creation, He pulls our consciousness into oneness with His. We feel His almighty
love impending all around us. Our Creator beckons, ‘You are my son, my daughter,
my precious creation—you know My (our) heart, ask Me—ask Me your (our) hearts desire
– so we both can enjoy.’ So, what will you ask?
“If you live in me and what I say live in you, then ask for
anything you want, and it will be yours.” (John 15:7).
