Death through Adam, Life through Christ

18 Therefore, everyone was condemned through one failure, and everyone received God's life-giving approval through one verdict. 19Clearly, through one person's disobedience humanity became sinful, and through one person's obedience humanity will receive God's approval. 20Laws were added to increase the failure. But where sin increased, God's kindness increased even more. 21 As sin ruled by bringing death, God's kindness would rule by bringing us his approval. This results in our living forever because of Jesus Christ our Lord. ~ Romans 5:18.21 (God’s Word Translation)

Most everyone knows the story of Adam and Eve and how the Serpent trick Eve and how Adam disobeyed God. This is how sin entered the world, this one act made all the people to come sinful. Most people also know the story of Jesus Christ, being 1/3rd of the Trinity came to earth and became a part of the His own creation in order to make a way through the sin of Adam into His kingdom. What many people do not stop to think about is that yes sin entered the world because of one act however it has not stopped there, all men and women continue to sin, everyday people sin. Some might say yeah but they are little sins. I say there is no such thing as a little sin; disobedience of any kind is still disobedience. Don’t believe me ask a parent, when you set a rule for your children no matter how slightly they deviate from your rule it is still a broken rule.

You might say yeah but Christ covered that in His death and resurrection. Yes He did, my point is this. Sin entered the world through one act, but it did not stop there everyone that has come since then have sinned in one way or another. So that means there have been numerous acts of sin, too many for man to count that has brought condemnation on all of us. However there has been only one act of salvation, the death and resurrection of Christ that has saved us from the many acts of sin.

So as Paul so eloquently put it here in Romans, “where sin increased, God’s kindness increased even more.”  The ESV puts it, “Grace abounded all the more.” NKJV says, “Grace abounded much more.” My point is this, where there is sin there is always more grace to cover it. A good pastor friend of mine, Pastor Joe Freeman puts it, “there is more of Christ than all your needs.” I think that says it very well. When you sin drop to your knees, turn to God and through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior beg for forgiveness and it will be given to you… Amen <><
