40 But the other rebuked him, saying, "Do you not fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? 41 And we indeed justly, for we are receiving the due reward of our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong." 42 And he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom." 43 And he said to him, "Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise." ~ Luke 23:40-43
In our world today we have come to expect the worst. We expect what we deserve, but Jesus is the changing factor. Jesus will give us a yes when we deserve and expect a no. Even in the last hour this unexpecting thief received a yes from Jesus, why? If you look at the text you will see that this man had faith, faith that Jesus was the person He proclaimed to be. He feared God and knew that his punishment was just and deserved and ask for forgiveness. The key is clear here, faith and repentance. They go hand in hand, if you truly believe then you will repent.
It is never too late, this man on the cross next to Jesus was in his final hour and realized that his fate was in the hands of the Living God. In his death he understood that the only way was in and through Jesus. Have you exhausted every avenue looking for that peace and happiness? Do you ask yourself what must I do to be free from receiving my just rewards? If you are seeking a yes and all you seem to get are no's then turn to the cross next to yours and say, Jesus remember me when you come into your kingdom. Tell Jesus that you know what you deserve and ask for forgiveness, tell Him you are sorry. Believe that you need Him and have faith that He will do what He says and bring you into His Paradise with Him.
Then go scream from the roof tops! God is just, God is merciful, God loves you! Repent and be with Him in Paradise!
9 Get you up to a high mountain, O Zion, herald of good news; lift up your voice with strength, O Jerusalem, herald of good news; lift it up, fear not; say to the cities of Judah, "Behold your God!" ~ Isaiah 40:9 ~ Amen <><
